Question about the fire scene
Why was the door closed? Did Samir lock it when he left to get the rest of the money? if yes why?! how didn't Rebecca have the key to open it? and why no one tried to open the door or break it from the outside?

shareSpoilers ahead.
Good point. Rebecca doesn't seem like a person who would permit somebody to lock her in, certainly not by somebody she doesn't trust. Maybe Rebecca didn't know Samir would lock the door. He fell out of grace with her for a while and maybe he wanted to make her pay by finding the money at Dounia's mother and never return.
But the main point had to be that Maimouna had to die, to make Dounia see the many wrong decisions she made while keeping her eyes on the prize.
I hate the thought that Maimouna could have lived if she wasn't so big. What kind of a message sends that?
