Looks too much like a family movie.
The Bay Transformer movies were not exactly good, but at least they had some WTF/misguided elements. This one doesn't look like it'll be taking any chances.

shareI'm surprised you consider that a negative thing.
Honestly, when I saw that trailer, that is the one thing that made me think this one could be worth watching. It seems to have an almost Spielbergian feel to it.
An argument can easily be made that it’s taking big chances by doing something completely different than what Bay did with his overblown an uninspiring moneymakers.
A movie lacking substance but having some edge might be preferable over a movie that looks “squeaky clean” to some people, but seriously... this franchise needs a fresh start. Doing something different for a change should be welcomed— it isn’t going to hurt.
Bumblebee looks like a good movie and that’ll be refreshing for this franchise. Too much of a family movie? If it is a family movie with a good script, good performances, strong direction and potentially top-notch action sequences that you can actually see... then I’m all for it.
Agreed on all counts. This is the first Transformers movie I'm actually considering catching in the theater since the very first one.
shareI’m going catch an early screening of it this Saturday. And let me tell you, I have NEVER been this excited to go see a Transformers movie (although it’s not like I didn’t skip all the others).
My curiosity was piqued when it was announced Travis Knight was going to direct this movie. Now when the first trailer dropped, I like many others, was pleasantly surprised by it. And after the second one came out, I was sold.
Let us know when you think about it after you've seen it.
I was hyped for the first movie way back when it came out, but I found it disappointing. After hearing that all the sequels sucked and the first one was the "good" one I just gave up on the franchise.
Maybe this one will be worth a shit, though.
Fingers crossed it will live up to the hype. It certainly can’t be any worse than the previous movies, but we’ll see.
shareWe all know that's a lie.
