One Trick Pony

What a snooze-fest this over rated, over hyped film turned out to be. No surprise there.

Kiwis really do believe anything that comes out of NZ is gold, regardless. Their jingoism is their worst trait. Kiwi films are put on a pedestal especially when they are made by a Maori.

The movie is a bore from start to finish. The kid inst funny, no matter how many stupid cheesy lines you give him to say.

The directing is lazy, dull, unimaginative and one dimensional. Just watch Boy and all the directors one trick pony gags are there as well. This is a Boy re-hash set in the 'bush' of New Zealand.

Watch Peter Jacksons earlier movies like Braindead and Bad Taste. Even they are far superior than anything Taika Waititi will ever produce.

If you want to see a truly iconic New Zealand film, I highly recommend Once Were Warriors, even its sequel What Becomes of the Broken Hearted is worth a watch.

For a movie that is so overly hyped and praised, Hunt For The Wilderpeople really has nothing to offer.

Cool story.

OP almost sound like he has a personal vendetta with the director of the film.

I'm not from New Zealand, nor Kiwi og Maori and I really enjoyed this film. Best film in 2016 so far in a rather weak year. So I'm glad this film redeemed some of 2016.

Did you not get the job in production that you wanted, had a crush on Taika and got spurned or just a bitter *beep*?

First of all the movie is based on a book and Boy wasn't so I fail to see any parallels between the two films.

I'm a Kiwi and proud of this movie, it's amusing, quirky and Sam and Julian were fantastic together.

I think you need to honest with yourself and find out the REAL reason you came on here to rip the movie and Taika to shreds.

Do you make movies yourself?
