Worth watching?

I like the premise and time period of the show, but the intro left much to be desired.

I watched the first couple minutes and it was painfully predictable.

They execute 3 guys, find 4th guy hiding in bushes. My mind immediately knows that they'll let him free to tell the others of what happened. Of course, this happens. Then I'm expecting someone to question authority and ask if it was a good idea, because then everyone will know you're the one who executed them, which happens. Followed by the typical response of, "Good, I want them to know"...cue title screen.

Really, you have to do better than that in your opening sequence to convince people to consider your show.

For those who watched the whole thing....Is it worth wasting 45 minutes on?

I watched the entire episode. I thought it was fairly average at the start but by the end I was pleasantly surprised by it. It's by no means amazing but it kept me intrigued enough to at least watch a few more episodes to see how it goes.

Thanks. Good to know it's not as straight forward as the opening. I guess I'll give it a watch.

The budget is lower which does affect everything including the acting and the production. It is nevertheless an interesting lesser known part of history and I do like the competing loyalities.

I watched the first two episodes and I am completely hooked. The show reminds me of Turn, Klondike, Banished, Sons of Liberty and Hell on Wheels, all of which I also thoroughly enjoy(ed). I think the cast is doing a very good job. I agree that it starts of a bit predictable, like we already have seen this story hundreds of times, and it also looks a bit cheapish made, but by episode two I no longer notice it.

I noticed that some people have an issue with Jason Momoa, mostly that he can only play one type of character. True or not, I personally like him and his acting.

In my book, this is already a hit, but then i thought the same about Banished which was canceled after season one.

I think you should at least give it a try if you like the shows I mentioned above. It doesn't have the same production value, nor is it as polished, as Hell on Wheels, but in my opinion, well in the same league as the other mentioned shows.

Hope this helped and Enjoy!

Anybody know where to find obscure TV soundtracks?
I use my android phone and the app "Track ID". It doesn't always recognize the tunes but it did help me several times.

First episodes are almost always weak episodes for series. There is too much to set up. Even with GoT's S1E1, I thought how over-rated the series was. After I kept watching, I changed my mind, obviously, it is a really good show.
