...we're supposed to laugh because we recognize the thing that is being reenacted.

If comedy is like sex, all about buildup and release of tension, then this movie can't get it up.

It's no wonder Marlon's family wanted nothing to do with it.

I wasn't the only one in the theater. There were five people, total. Two walked out fifteen minutes in. Another left fifteen minutes after that. When I walked out

On the bright side, at least this isn't "A Haunted House 3." Just kidding. There's no such thing as a bright side when dealing with a Marlon Wayans production.
Wayans and company seems to have no evident control over what they want “Fifty Shades of Black” to be, other than a teeming repository of half-baked set pieces and pop-culture shoutouts.

More reviews soon! I wonder if it'll get higher or lower than 14%.

Can we all just go on record here and state emphatically that all these reviewers quotes are infinitely more amusing and clever than the actual movie being reviewed by them is?
"Life IS pain highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something".
all the good ones: airplane, naked gun, student bodies, saturday the 14th, all mel brooks spoofs (which i personally don't like), scream, behind the mask, (partially) attack of the killer tomatoes, slither, cabin fever, the cabin in the woods, Piranha, Piranha 3D, most new school c-movies (sharknado...etc) ...
so basically all films, where the makers actually had love and understanding for the genre they were poking fun at, which is the basis of a every good spoof.
or to put it differently: all films that did not simply consist of picking and chosing significant scenes from succesful films and ridiculing them in a fashion and quality that makes Mad Magazine look like Vonnegut.
Cabin in the Woods, Cabin Fever and Slither and other films like that I don't consider same genre as this. I wouldn't even consider them parodies, parodies have to imitate and I don't believe those movies imitate, or maybe I should narrow to Spoof. Think Movie version of Weird Al. Space Balls, Men in Tights, Airplane, Scary Movie, Naked Gun, Don't be a Menace, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, Meet the Spartans, Date Movie, Not Another Teen Movie etc, that is the genre I'm speaking of and they are hardly ever well received at least not since the 80's. You know this movie will be critically panned it's a given. I would be more shocked to find a critic who gave a positive review.
you wrote parody, no "the same genre as this". if i would categorize this one, i would not even put it into the "spoof" genre, because it is way below that.
wait wait wait.
i give you: Space Balls, Men in Tights, Airplane, Scary Movie, Naked Gun and i am gonna git you sucka.
all the others you named are actually the problematic ones. as i said, i would not even call that crap spoof.
"and they are hardly ever well received at least not since the 80's"
90s. because thats the last time someone made the effort. after that it was all crap and it was panned for good reason.
I don't disagree. This movie isn't anything I would consider good either. This film missed the mark for more than it hit. However where it hit was making fun of the outrageousness of Grey. It pointing out that Christian is really a stalker and that he is possessive, and what he did it not in any way romantic, It misses the mark with the same crude jokes that every other comedy throws out today. It misses pretty much anytime it's trying to create its own humor and not poking fun at Grey.

agreed.
"However where it hit was making fun of the outrageousness of Grey."
yeah, but a) that's not really and achievement and b) taking one single film for a 90 minutes spoof is just sad.
"It pointing out that Christian is really a stalker and that he is possessive, and what he did it not in any way romantic,"
sure, but to those that understand that, it was already clear after the original and those that don't, will still deny it after the spoof.
