Very Bad

I've tolerated it up till now, I don't know why, as there's hardly anything in it that appeals to me, from Baker's tall tales (if he hasn't already he should consult a shrink about this hero worship of his father) to Peter Kay's repulsive and distracting accent. But last night put the tin hat on it - the football coach lifted straight from Kes, and the referee heading the winner, an almost shot for shot remake of Another Sunday And Sweet FA (didn't think we'd know that one, did you Danny?)

As for his defence of his father's thieving ways as lionised in this show and the books (not that I believe it) - he ranted on Later With Jools Holland that we should be concentrating on the bankers of today, not a bit of petty thievery in the 70s - well, the one begets the other. Greed is an epidemic, and the society we created in the Seventies (everything is fair game and Greed Is Good) led to those bankers and financiers bleeding the country dry.

You're right that he is borrowing a lot from other sources, and not doing it that well. The autobiographies seem to have been dropped which is a shame as there was a lot of funny and dark stuff in them that would work well on screen.

Also the last scene with the female teacher getting off with the 15 year old Danny is perhaps a bit difficult to accept in the current climate. Perhaps that was 'borrowed' from The Class of Miss Carmichael or Melody?
