I know some of this was filmed in Manchester, but was just wondering if anybody knows the actual location of the housing estate in the opening titles?

It's the Richmond Park estate in Ashton-under-Lyne. Specifically, the area bounded by Katherine Street, Margaret Street and Hodgson Street.
