Graphic Holocaust stuff?

A friend of mine, a Jewish lady "of a certain age," wants to see this movie but is concerned about the possibility of a lot a graphic Holocaust footage that will keep her up at nights. Can anyone who has seen the movie tell me if her concerns are valid? Thanks.

reply

Nothing graphic in terms of violence or nudity or blood. There is a modern-day sequence shot on site at Krema II at Auschwitz.

reply

Thanks. She may ask me to escort her to the movie, and to be honest, I'm a little concerned about that stuff, too. In high school my classmates and I had to watch NIGHT AND FOG, the French documentary about the Holocaust, and it has haunted me to this day.

reply

As the other response said, there is nothing graphic, no scenes like Night and Fog. The visit to Auschwitz is similar to visiting the Holocaust Museum--seeing the huge quantities of shoes left behind, and extensive discussions of the gas chambers.

I was hoping to see more graphic historic footage, why deny history show it as it is.. So is this just a dull thriller, or is it well acted, and captivating throughout?

reply

It's not a thriller. This is a movie about ideas, basically. Feelings, too, but mostly ideas: history, truth, integrity. There is tension with the court case, but mostly about what is the best strategy.

I thought it was well acted.

reply

There's no graphic Holocaust footage. It's not violent or gory.
