"But it could never happen in our times..." Wrong!
When I was younger people used to say, "how could the Germans just stand by and let so many be murdered, while getting on with their own lives impassionately!?"
But once you study enough history - if you go far back in time, in almost any country's history, you too will find equally comparable acts of the most disgusting barbarism - perpetrated against a designated minority. Even the great English at one time jeered while so called "witches" were so cruelly burned at the stake! The inquisition; Idi Amin's Uganda; Stalin's purges; Mao Tse Tung's so called "cultural reforms"; The rape of Nanking; And it goes on and on and on!!
Today we all get on with our lives while there are known concentration camps in North Korea, for anyone - many for the most trivial of matters (and all close family members who did nothing whatsoever except be related to the haplessly outspoken) - who dares speak out against the current oppressive regime.
And what do we care? "They're only North Koreans"!
No. They're only humans, who deserve far better from the international community, than to let this happen.
Look too to the Phillipines, where people are being murdered in countless numbers each and every day, and what's the despicable 'excuse' this time?
"Oh but they're only addicts!"
No. They are humans, with what modern science tells us is a medical disorder - and not one which deserves bullets for a cure. Again, here we have just another minority scapegoat - and it's the same today as it ever was.
If there is one single way in which deniers of the 1940's Holocaust and believers should be united, it is this:
We should *all* be ashamed of ourselves today, no less than ordinary Germans who got on with their lives in the early 1940s should have been ashamed of themselves too.
