(SPOILER ALERT) Sometimes its best to keep quiet (thank god she did)
The film accurately follows the actual courtroom drama as the script was based on the actual trial transcript, a complicated case heard only by a judge, it was considered too complicated for a standard jury made up of the general public to evaluate.
Lipstadt was seen speaking to a survivor outside the courtroom. Lipstadt and the survivors were not allowed to testify since this would have resulted in their experience being questioned and ultimately this was not the reason the case was brought.
There is a gripping scene where Lipstadt promised the survivor that their voice would be heard. However, there was a good chance the case would have been compromised if their emotions had been examined.
Did anyone else think “what are you doing? Take that promise back!”
