Tom Wilkinson

I know I'm not going out on a limb by saying this guy's got some serious acting chops (and seems to be getting better with age IMO). This portrayal was off-the-hook good.

Do you think The Academy will recognize this role for nomination? Best actor in a supporting role is ALWAYS deep in talent, and this year looks like no exception.

He was amazing. I also thought Oscar.

I could see him being nominated for a BAFTA. Him or Spall, they were both incredibly good. I have a feeling AMPAS will overlook this entirely at the next Oscars.

Tom Wilkinson is an amazing actor.

He has been nominated twice by the Academy, both as an Actor and Supporting Actor roles.

Many actors go unrecognized by the Academy and never win the little gold man or get a Lifetime Achievement aka; pitty award. The Oscars is a political circle jerk among the members of the Academy and I'm sure many film makers and actors in the biz could care less at the end of the day.

I also was completely blown away by him in this, as I am in pretty much everything he does. In this case all I could think of during his major scenes is that no one else could have equaled the serious force he brought to the role. He has a way of nailing his characters so that they echo the very essence or morality or theme of each project he does. It's beyond craftsmanship or talent or skill - it's on a higher dimension.

At first I thought he was going to play Irving.

It's that man again!!

if you watch footage of the real irving

i thought he was going to play Irving.

Unfortunately, he was overlooked by the Academy. I look forward to his future performances, as this role only further validated his ability to add layers to almost any film in which he appears.

He should have been nominated. By any standards this was a brilliant piece of acting.

I thought he was really, really good, in a take-over-the-screen kind of way.
