But why the hell is future trunk's hair blue???

As far as I know, he was meant to have blue hair originally in DBZ, but it was changed to purple for some reason; some say it was deliberate to make his family connection more surprising, some say it was a honest mistake. I don't know which one is true.

Still doesn't make sense that they suddenly just changed it back to blue. Especially since kid trunk's is still purple. I guess it's not that big a deal, but it bothers me lol

There are several inconsistencies. Like Mai's eyes being black instead of blue, and even Hercule's eyes being gray instead of blue. Also, several characters' appearances are somewhat off.

I'm pretty certain that he dyed his hair like his mother. If you look back in dragon ball Bulma and his father have purple hair, that's their natural color, then later in Z Bulma dyed her hair blue. Trunks first appeared with purple hair, and his kid version still has purple hair. This is not one of Akira Toriyama inconstancies, give him some credit, he been pretty consistent with certain things, like names for example, it's pretty amusing how he comes up with names for each of his characters.

seems like you got the point. just because you're a cartoon character, doesn't mean you can't dye your hair. toriyama always stood by his characters being like normal, everyday, people. that's why they don't always dress the same and some of them have different haircuts throughout the series.

the only inconsistence is in the flashback to the history of trunks special. nothing else.
