Believe it or not, many boys and girls willingly lose their innocence at 12. I used to work at a health clinic years ago. It's very common, as most have went through puberty by that age or are going through it. Many girls are starting their periods as young as age 9.

It's common for young teenagers to get married and have children in South American countries, so I'm not sure why this is such a shock to you.

Obviously, you know nothing of the culture down there. The horrendously accurate portrayal of the happenings in this movie are extremely realistic. Why pretend that sort of stuff never happens?
