Good guy becomes bad guy > bad guy becomes good guy > repeat.....
At first I thought "wow, this is different", til I realized the plot is just the Bad Letty thing from Furious 6 in reverse and Statham being recruited as help is just a repeat of what happened with Dwayn Johnson's character. We can now assume Theron will be an ally in the future too.

These are the antagonists in the series and their fate.
1. Johnny Tran - dead
2. Carter Verone - locked up
3. D.K. - forced to leave Tokyo
4. Braga - locked up
5. Reyes - dead
6. Owen Shaw - vegetable
7. Deckard Shaw - locked up. Friends - dead
8. Cipher - ??
Now what we know is that Cipher has something over Dom or has brain-washed him. It's not a case of him turning into an antagonist for the sake of it. What it is though is what remains to be seen.
