At the end of this film they are all cryogenically frozen and then awoken in the year 9999 to save Earth from the Sun imploding. Only the power of their adopted family bond and their suped up rice burner engines can restart the Sun's core. They will fix the Sun by driving super fast in the opposite direction, which coincidentally will cause them to time travel into the past and that will be the premise for the 10th film where they save baby Jesus.
