John Moore getting beat up or otherwise assaulted. 3 times so far...

And he has quit drinking officially (but not in practice) so that stinks for him.

He takes a licking and keeps on ticking! I cringe every time I see him go into an alley. He always seems to be following a shady character into a dark crevice somewhere.

But nothing ever seems to happen afterwards, apart from when he gets two black eyes....that is remarked upon. But he can withstand a drugged gang rape...or was it?! Nothing seemed to have happened....he can also be fine after getting his head repeatedly slammed against a brick wall....this spate of magic was just one thing that was a questioning and frustrating disappointment about this series.
