Rename Zaschitniki to . . .
. . . Protectors instead of Guardians so as not to confuse audiences with Guardians of the Galaxy or Rise of the Guardians.

shareAnd which sounds better to you? Protectors or Guardians? And if people get confused, it's their fault.
Logan: I don't know!
Rogue: You don't know, or you don't care?
Logan: Pick one. X-Men

And maybe it is just coincidentally intentional, .
It looks like Russia is trying to create for itself a philosophical makeover in a bit of a 'Me Too', and what better way to do that then trade off of the Superhero cues that currently exist as popular entertainment.

But with its own unique twist on it, hopefully. Guardians will do, I suppose. In all honesty, the name Zashchitniki does have kind of an exotic ring to it, mainly because it took me so long to learn how to spell it, and also I only need type the first 4 letters into Imdb and it comes straight up, but the name would be pretty meaningless to most people. (I only learnt the Russian name after first finding it on Imdb as Guardians.) Presumably we're stuck with Guardians now, at least they didn't add "of (random name here)" to it, else it could seem like an Asylum style Mockbuster, trying to trade on Marvel's movies.
"Perhaps I'm a ghost"
But with its own unique twist on it, hopefully.I'm not going to hold my breath on that one because almost every conceivable iteration of the Superhero mythos has been done within the printed pages.
