why I think the Chi-Raq has a 4 on imdb but critics are loving it

I believe its african american people who are downgrading the film because just looking at the trailer I believe it sounds degrading to the african americans , i'm white but i was born and raised in a black community and I think representing the black race as sex-driven maniacs is racist, it shows chicago and the people that were born and live in chicago in a racist way, even if the movie is good, i still find the concept racist

english isn't my first language so if i said something in a offensive way it wasnt on purpose, for example where I live (portugal) I call my black friends my ni--as and we see it as a cool thing and because we are brother something I know I couldn't do in the united states, even if im saying in a brotherly and respectful way which is kind of sad if you ask me

Try not to generalize large groups of people, of any race, in that manner.

You don't have a single shred of evidence for any of the wild assumptions you've made.

Lots of people of all races are excited about the movie and love it ( 80% Metacritic and Rottentomatoes scores ). But some people hate the movie or the idea of it.

There's no way of knowing their race. And it's not like a large percentage of IMDB users are Black to begin with.

You're a DUMB ASS! Having seen this movie, the majority of BLACKS WON'T GET THIS MOVIE and that's a fact.

I would say the reason it has such a low rating is because you don't actually have to watch the movie to rate it on IMDB so a bunch of whiny people who don't like Spike Lee come over and rank his films low.

Very valid point. I was not overly impressed with the one Lee film I did see. I won't rate movies I did not see.

It is a modern interpretation of a Greek play written by Aristophanes. The same situations and sexual content are present in the original play. What it really shows is that the human condition is the same throughout generations and amongst different cultures and nationalities.

It's specifically degrading to african american men, because it specifically makes black men look like sex-driven maniacs who are dependent on women's sex. This makes the movie just as much sexist as it is racist. I think a lot of anti-feminist types probably downgraded this too, something PC whipped "professional" critics would be too ball-less and brainless to consider.
