He gets hung in Matteo Garrone's 'Pinocchio' from 2019, which is pretty faithful to the darker stuff from the original fairytale.
From what I've seen so far, Garrone's film is far superior to Disney's, which is simply a remake of the animated film with a few extra bells and whistles.
I saw that one last year, I never read the original book or saw the entire Disney classic. Therefore, I was shocked by the dark themes. Man was the Blue Fairy cold! But Pinocchio was a block head who created his own misery at times. Boy did the Judge hit a basic truth home by saying only the good go to jail. Pinocchio wanted to press charges against the fox and cat who stole his gold coins. Of course they
would have never known about the money if dumb Pinocchio had kept his mouth shut. I was really shocked to learn in the original story, the puppet killed Jiminy. I think in the movie, he only injured him.
