Roman or Jake?

Who's side of this did you support? Jake was suffering every bit as much as Roman and I felt for him and his family trying to help him move on from the tragedy. Roman was more isolated in his grief. I thought when they met face to face that they'd have a deep conversation from both of their perspectives but it was so jarring what happened instead. Not a typical role for Arnold but he played the grieving father well in this movie. Same with the actor who plays Jake. Both were effective at making you empathize with their characters.

There's no side to support. BOTH of them were suffering greatly, but I feel Roman is more wrong. He intentionally took life, Jacob was not intentional in his actions.

It's definitely ambiguous. Jake reacted very badly and downright rude when Roman confronted him. I mean seriously, how many times did he say "what's the matter with you?!?!" or "what's gotten into you?!?!"? The answer to that is obvious. I don't remember Jake's exact words but talk about minimizing Roman's loss and emotions!!

I think if Jake had shown some understanding and compassion, things would have gone very differently. I don't justify the murder but Roman just wanted an apology and Jake was an asshole about it. Clearly, Roman snapped.
