It's kind of ambiguous, unless you read the newspaper articles shown near the end. One of them states that Dr. Brenner refused to comment on Joyce's public attacks of his facility. So, he's still alive.

Yes Petalhead is good. The only other one I could think of was Venus Fly Trap but I thought Flower Pot Monster was more in keeping with a children's show...

I just assume since Hellraiser have Pinhead, Silent Hill has Pyramid Head, and perhaps other movies have other "heads", Petalhead could continue that tradition.
shareI think it most likely tackled him, then the other soldiers continuing to shoot enraged the creature and it broke off the attack on Brenner to go after them. Just like when it had Jonathan on the ground and Nancy opened up with her revolver. It came after her instead.
