the line, "the bombs should have been waist high"

The dialogue between the brothers is just pure speculation, but why add in that line from Dzhokhar Tsarnaevrom that the bombs should have been waist high. There was no need to add this to the script. It just seemed Peter Berg wanted the audience to really hate them. There was no need to say this, their actions were enough.

reply

So what's wrong with wanting the audience to hate scumbag terrorists? It's a dramatization of the events, not a documentary.

reply

Its still a true story with true characters, documentary or not. I got nothing against hating them as their actions are enough to warrant that. I just felt it wasn't necessary from Peter Berg to stoke the flames even more from that one line, especially not fully knowing how coerced Dzhokar was from his older brother.

reply

Who cares how "coerced" he may have been. He had a mind of his own and chose to go along with it. He, his brother, and the stupid, horrible wife were/are despicable human beings.

reply

I agree he was still despicable, thats not my argument. I am saying if he was coerced he wouldnt have said that line. He would have been quiet about it and just gone through the motions.

reply

As the previous person has said, who cares? Do you really care that one of the bombers who killed and injured several innocent people isn't being portrayed as positively as he should in a dramatization of a terrorist attack?

reply

Try "truthfully". If the dude is a scumbag, there is no red to exaggerate it with fiction, except to manipulate retards in the audience.

reply

Agreed. Cheap shot that didn't really add anything to the movie.

It was a pretty *beep* attempt in a bombing in a lot ways - that many people crowded together, and only 3 deaths? That's one of the silver linings, the attack could have been much much worse if they guys were a little smarter. So, it's a part of the story, and I guess they could have had an officer say something like that, but, whatever.

Any ya, the dialogue is probably speculation, but they've also had this guy alive for a few years, and he's been tried, it's possible he's talked to some investigators and some of that info is out there.
