Stupid Question about the ending

Please--I may be a little slow. Why did Walid kill Abu Ahmad? Thank you :)

reply

I think he killed him because Walid thought he had lost his ability to lead the group --- when Abu was taken in by Doron the enemy, Walid found out and went to see Abu to show him how foolish he'd been. Abu had definitely lost his sheen as the almighty and powerful wise leader.

Walid also was coming up in the movement and I think he simply thought of himself as the natural successor and wanted to take over from Abu---so he just got rid of the man he had lost confidence in in order to take the helm himself. We know how ruthless Walid is. He did not hesitate did he.

Also he was sort of pressured into it. It seemed to me he really didn't want to kill him. But the character Abu Smara pressured him into it and even handed him a pistol to do so.
He felt that Ahmad had lost his touch as a leader and that it was time for a new one to take his place.
I honestly didn't think he (Walid) had the determination or willpower to do so.
Also another reason why he may have wanted to kill Abu Ahmad was because he wanted Walid to kill that female doctor that he was in love with.
Because Ahmad suspected her of collaborating with the Israelis.
So he had two good reasons to bring himself to do so.
Walid comes across as somewhat unsure of himself and inexperienced to be a real leader yet.
