how is it that bad? just watched the first episode and it looks much better than what the rating suggest.

shareIt's a very very fictional account of the time, the people, the templars, the king of France, the Pope. Everything down to the modern spaghetti strapped dresses the women wear are fictional. That would've been bearable, if the characters were likable. Give us at least 1 likable character, but no everyone is a selfish narcissistic, backstabbing lying no honor whatsoever person.

sharejust finished the first season, i think hes still the most likable along with Joan, sure hes flawed but no one is really perfect, would be boring if he is. He just did whatever he think its right even at his own peril kinda like Jon snow.

shareIf it is modern day it wouldnt have been that complicated, Joan would be able to get a divorce and be done with it, Landry did feel conflicted about it but to his credit he did end the relationship before the affair was found out. Overall hes still a better man than most in the show.

Second, this show isn't set in the modern world, if they had cell phones and nuclear weapons, all their problems would also be solved. What does that have to do with the story and setting?
Third, the Knight's Templar are a monastic religious order so Landry is a monk with vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. He broke 2 of those vows, and believe me that is considered a problem and controversial even today. Not only did he break the vows to his Church and God (he is married to God and had an affair with a woman), he also caused her to break her vows to her husband, so a double whammy.
Finally he betrayed his best friend, who happens to be the most powerful man in the country.
This show and it's poor characters are like some daytime soap opera.
And this guy is supposed to be the most likable? ! Lol.
But if you love it. Enjoy. I won't try to convince you otherwise. But is sure is not Game of Thrones. And Landry ain't no Stark. 1 word, honor.
For a person who hates it so much you sure must have watched a lot of it, I actually watched the whole two seasons and knowing that it was a load of fiction and had no truth historically, I allowed myself to be entertained and somewhat enjoyed it. If you watch shows trying to be convinced they are historically accurate you will not end up watching many TV shows at all.
A whole lot? I watched all 2 seasons. I'm not the type to give up on a show or walk out in a middle of a film no matter how horrible. I finish it and critique it later as everyone is entitled and should do. Expand your palette, you'll realize the are good and bad films.
shareHes flawed and made mistakes but that doesnt make him detestable in any way, its like implying that a convicted felony would be forever condemn for his sins with no chance of redemption.
shareSure everyone has a chance for redemption, but his mistakes were purposeful and easily prevented by most people with an ounce of rational and moral fortitude.
