Saw this at TIFF (spoilers)
Okay, I am having a hard time understanding this movie. Maybe I'm too dumb, could someone explain it to me? I have no idea of the significance of the book and how it compares to Susan's real life.

shareSpoilers.
Okay, the rapists in the book takes away Edward's daughter and wife and they're murdered. Eventually this incident is the cause of Edward death as well.
In real life, Susan's new husband takes away Edward's wife and the unborn child Which kills Edward inside.
Okay, that makes more sense to me. Did Edward say he'd show up and not just to get at Susan like a "screw you" thing? I kind of found it dumb how his book character accidentally shot himself...
shareI think the film is full of symbolism.
I reckon that Edward killed himself after getting the email from Susan suggesting where to meet.
That's why the last scene is so powerful as we are witnessing her slowly realising that her choices have caused him so much pain for so long that he clearly isn't going to show up because he's dead like Tony in the book. She had foolishly thought he might turn up and she would have the chance to try again as she was deeply unhappy herself.
I also think that the detective character possibly represents Edward in real life having found out he has terminal cancer, which inspired him to finally write this book and exact his revenge on Susan before ending his own life on his terms. This mirrors the detective with cancer helping Tony exact his revenge in the book.
This may be linked to the weak/strength thread and why the book character Tony accidentally killed himself.
not sure though
i'm tired of dancing here all by myself
What would you rate it out of 10?
The trailer looked only OK, but I'm still looking forward to it quite a bit.
