Did Bobby fool you ?
Michael Shannon did a fantastic job. When I went to his IMBD page I was surprised to see he actually is a good looking younger man. In the movie I would say he is in his late 50's early 60's. He really played the part well. And he fooled me. At first I feared he was going to be this mean, uncaring hometown cop who would not believe Tony or even try to help him. Or even worse, he knows ( or is related to ) the killers and would help them cover it up or maybe even be in on it ( the cop car flying by them and ignoring them on the road before the killings made me very suspicious) How could a cop out in the middle of nowhere completely ignore two cars and several people standing out in the middle of the road ?
As the film progresses the more I learn about Bobby the better I like him. He does care deeply and he is a good cop. He will not let these animals go unpunished. He is very supportive of Tony and tells him he is a good man and to not feel guilty about what happened to his family. That there was nothing he could have done. The man was dying yet showed compassion to Tony and helped him avenge the murders of his family. Great character and I will never forget him.
