She rode to San Francisco. Thus the title 'Katie Says Goodbye'.

There are several things that don't quite add up about the ending. They never give the audience a good camera shot of the shoe-box, so, we don't know for sure the money was gone. The camera shot is just like half of the box. I assume its empty though and she has to go back to turning tricks too get to San Francisco or maybe she pulled the money out of the box and was going to attempt to make it with what she had which is why she took the heat for the money missing from the register which I do think the other girl took it, ummmm... right??

I also think her mother took the shoebox money but again, we don't know for sure....

And to be honest, it looks like the truck pulling out of the parking lot at the end is Bear's truck. Which makes me think she decided to leave with Bear and just go wherever he goes. I don't know, I suppose it's another one of those endings that leaves it up to viewer to decide what happens to Katie after she "says goodbye" to that jerkwater town she's living in.

Overall, decent film but I do think the current rating of 6.7 is a little too high. No one really has any charisma in this film. Even films with shady characters need this. I give it a 5.3 out of 10.
