2nd Generation Zombie Reproduction Flaw

So basically if any of the second generation wanted to have children the woman would be willing to die and be eaten alive. This means for every women "zombie" there can only be one child and there is a %50 chance that every zombie baby would be a girl. So basically with each generation of these zombie people the population would keep halving. Not to add to the fact that some of them could die due to accidents etc. So their way of being able to live is flawed. That's what i was thinking anyway when the girl asked the scientist why her life is worth less than hers, in short its because their "species" has a very limited overall span.

I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that the woman who's pregnant needs to be willing to die and be eaten alive? The 2nd generation grow up and reproduce themselves (and the hungries don't eat other hungries anyway), and we can assume they deliver children normally; it doesn't eat its way out of her. This can be seen explicitly in the short, secret epilogue that was cut from the novel, where it's revealed that Melanie has children of her own, and that these 3rd generation kids don't even possess "the hunger".

Very cool. I read the book a while back. Didn't even know this chapter existed.

I kinda like they left it open in the movie but I would have liked to read that in the book.

Thanks
