=stupid pu**y. He'd rather die eaten alive than blow the grenade.
It's 2017, did they think audiences were ok with being presented skilled trained smart characters doing really dumb moves

Yeah that was pretty stupid and frustrating. Blowing the grenade he would have died in a matter of seconds and get rid of the zombies at the same time. Instead he gets to die painfully and slowly eaten alive and the zombies get to live. What a dumb decision.
shareIn the book he wasn't much more than a kid himself and was incredibly naive. He wasn't meant to be a soldier and had the role out of necessity and not by real choice. Sergeant Parks constantly worried about him throughout.
So I think his decision not to kill the kids was his defining moment. He just didn't have that in him.
The last few minutes he was alive he was thinking about masturbating and eating food. I guess two major primal human instincts. not working getting eaten alive for tho
shareIn the book he didn't want to kill them. Hard to get that through in a movie though.
There is no such thing as too much time
He didn't want to kill the kids, even though they were eating him.
You saw how he showed sympathy for Melanie.
