In the strictest sense, it is a medium caliber military rifle capable of full(or burst) and semi-auto fire.
In practice, it is, literally, anything the fringe left fear mongers want it to be at any given moment. Is it black? Does it have any kind of magazine? It's an "Assault Rifle". Knowledge, facts, logic, none of it is required in their agenda.
Yep, for all the presumptions the left likes to make about their intellectual superiority, they are beyond ignorant on guns. I remember people like Diane Rehm spouting ignorance after each shooting even after they were corrected, because the truth of the matter is, facts don't matter, and they don't care to educate themselves.
The truth is rifles are some of the safest guns around, simply because you can't hide one down the front of your pants.
