It Bombed
It is no shock that Miss Sloane completely tanked in the box office. This is what happens when they make a propaganda film. Don't be surprised if Hollywood gives Miss Sloane an Oscar.

shareYou're so sensitive and divisive. There isn't a single person calling it a propaganda film that's actually seen it. It's box office has nothing to do with any of that. Hollywood knows hicks only watch the silly movies it puts out. The smart movies all take time to find their audience since this country has a lot more dumb people with poor taste. The film will exist forever and will play in theaters through the holidays and then be avail in all other forms next year. Suffice to say the movie will eventual be seen by millions. And then people will realize that the movie exploits the flaws in the political system more than anything else. And it's stance on gun control - albeit definitely more libera (aka rational) - does an excellent job painting the issues of both sides. It's more the fanatic gun advocates who live in fear of their fellow man that can't stand what the film ostensibly portrays.
shareWow you are really an elitist liberal. Calling people hicks who disagree with your liberal dogma proves why the Democratic Party is in so much trouble.
shareI just think it's ignorant to label something you have no direct experience of - admit it, you didn't watch the film and you're assuming it's propoganda based on what you've heard. If it's hearsay on your part, don't go on a public platform and propagate it - that's a Republican agenda at play and makes you a hypocrite for knocking what you believe to be a liberal one. So, when people operate from ignorance, yes, I assume YOU are a hick. I've got nothing else to go on.
shareDis *beep* bombed despite you typy-typing all dat
BOMBED
Like Hillary
and your Marxist dreams
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA
Liberals are so fun to laugh at.
by the way, I'm black, so you, as a liberal, can't call me names. It's in your rules.
Well, Hillary actually won almost three million more votes than Trump, and would have won the election if it weren't for the antiquated electoral college system, which is used by no other democracy in the world. And Trump is objectively the least popular President-elect in modern history and getting more so every day, so you are actually in the minority by declaring his win a triumph.
shareActually if you take away all the "dead people" and illegals who voted he easily won the popular vote. The electoral college is so that the whole country is represented not a highly populated state. We are a constitutional Republic not a democracy! The electoral college did exactly what it was designed to do!
shareagree with you
shareit is not a propaganda film

Yes, but killing arabs is delicious.
Being anti-NRA is soooooooo 1990s
But it's an NRA propoganda film so that one must be legit haha. Rightist hypocrites on here.
shareA movie starring a B list actress + narrative that turns off half the country will do that
I think this movie was destined to bomb for those two reasons, but I think Trump's victory has made the box office for this film even worse. The Washington Post ran an editorial by a woman who says she's given up dating because she just can't now that Trump is elected President, and I saw another by a woman who said she now finds it difficult to go to church. The target audience for this movie is simply too depressed to go see it.
shareShe's definitely an A-list actress, but not necessarily a box-office draw - that seems to be more a conscious choice based on the type of work she does (a la Michelle Williams).
She's one of the busiest actresses who is consistently offered competitive work and is perennially awarded for her work.
You don't have to like her, but one can't argue that she isn't A-list when the entertainment industry identifies and treats her as such.

You're defining A-list by mass-audience recognition, which is more about box-office/public support (less of those kinds of movie stars exist today). I'd also be really interested to see what kind of statistics you have used to somehow gauge how many people in the U.S. know who she is.
You can also define A-list members by talent to those only given A-list material/projects and awarded often by the most reputable organizations. For example, most actors represented at CAA can be considered A-list - they're the Harvard of talent agencies - and Chastain is repped there along with most major names in the industry.
PS - for what it's worth, if you use Google and type in "A-List Actresses" the search engine has put her name and photo in a small list of women also, apparently, considered A-list; they use public analytics to make this list since you're desiring public affirmation to back these things up.
Careful. You shouldn't say "bomb" in here. The snowflakes will get scared.
shareYes, thread title should have contained trigger warning.
My all time favorite was a facebook note about an email that the recipient had received, and the FB post had a trigger warning for "violent language." The entire message was "no," as the response to a ridiculous request. Poor snowflake had apparently never heard her mommies use the word, thus the trigger.
