The Legends NAIL The Reality Of Thanksgiving

Why hasn’t anyone made a movie that’s the Thanksgiving version of A Christmas Story, or Gremlins or Die Hard? Tonight’s Legends ep, Tagumo Attacks!!!, done by a lowly CW TV series, captured the reality of US Thanksgiving: self-loathing families sitting around drinking and starving, getting four sheets to the wind (yes, you can go beyond three sheets at Thanksgiving), and hating the whole experience. What a delicious parallel between Ray’s starving, dysfunctional family and the starving monsters in the Time Bureau! AND the ep managed also to include a wonderful spoof of 50s Japanese giant monster movies AND Norah Dhark’s moral/personal dilemma re using her evil dead dad’s powers to save Constantine. That’s a lot of narrative for a CW show to juggle. For comparison, we’re on ep 6 of this season of Arrow, and Oliver is STILL in the hoosegow.
