Nick Zano's job is to detect irregularities in history right? But if something is changed in the past, Nick Zano shouldn't be able to remember the original history point. For example, if in the history books it said that New York City was bombed in 1942, then Nick shouldn't remember the actual history. I'm confused as to how he remembers the actual history and why he doesn't get affected by the timeline changing.

The rumor urban myth was that an Atomic Bomb went off under water. That was what caught his attention...and he was looking at pictures and stories of the people of legends in time ...like a knight looking like Ray palmer in his suit...or a drawing of the waverider flying thru the air...things like that are what he finds. In old records ..he does not have the power to see differences between the 2...
