Where is Rip? Is he dead?

His hologram message seems like a goodbye message, is he dead? But the ship seems fine after the bomb, has he done something to make the ship work again and then disappear or really dead?

Good question but I doubt he's dead hell he's pretty much the main character.

i read somewhere the actor left the show but will make minor appearances here and there.
