How is Mick Rory Chronos?

I get why he has reasons to be but i thought one of the shows premises was that no one can visit any event in which they already participated without time folding in on itself and Chronos attacks the Wave Rider during times Mick Rory was in it. Causality issues throughout the series aside this is a rule set up by the show itself. They literally explain why they couldnt go back to 1958 to retrieve the team for this reason in the same episode Chronos takes the mask off.

Also curious as to why they didnt just pick up sara right after she split from ray and kendra? This wouldve avoided breaking the earlier mentioned rule and would be easier than facing the league. I get they didnt know she would act like she did but of the rest of the league they suffered no delusions.

They couldn't go back any earlier than that they said. I can't exactly remember why.

Time would fold was the given reason. That only explains why after landing in 1960 where ray and kendra were they couldnt then go back to 58 pick the two up. Sara wasnt with them so rule doesnt apply as long as its after she split and they arent there.
