Will there ever be a good Beowolf movie or series?

You can clearly see that lots of people who cared worked on this. Maybe it's even someones lovechild. But seriously it sucks. It lacks good action sequences, pacing, the characters are downright silly. The plot looks like it's utterly predictable if I wasn't so bored with it already.

I wished this was good but it isn't.

I agree with your comments. The opening sequence looked good, but then things got silly. The dialogue is childish, the acting below par, and the show seemed like it didn't know if it wanted to be a LOTR wannabe, or a Vikings wannabe. In the end it was neither. It could have been good but wasn't.

Just finished watching the pilot.

The writing/story/directing/editing were inept.

The acting, sets, costumes, CGI were to me fine.

The way they choose to tell the story in the pilot took away from all the positive qualities.

I managed to sit through the pilot. I'm hopeful that they will be able to pull this 2gether & increase their awareness that there's an audience & there has to be some sense to the story that we are watching. Otherwise the audience doesn't want to come back.

I'll wait until the 4th or 5th episode; then watch several eps back to back.

I liked:

the rest? Pretty poor.

Oh damn I just remembered "Beowulf & Grendel (2005)" with Gerard Butler which is pretty good: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402057/

It's not for everyone though. I really liked it but the ratings are low so...

The 13th Warrior is best but it's not quite "good". Budget and some bewildering costume designs brought it down but at least the Beowulf-figure was unambiguously good unlike "deconstructive" takes like the CGI film.

Indeed, it's a huge production that a lot of people put their heart and sweat into. Which makes the end result all the more disappointing. They completely fail at making you care about the characters or what happens to them. All attempts at humour fall flat because of how cliché they are, and the plot is really boring. Where's the excitement? Of all the angles they could have chosen to tell this story they settle for "outsider comes back from exile and seeks vengeance for the death of an old friend?" Really? How boring is that?
