Should have followed the poem

I feel like the show would have been stronger if they had followed the poem.

Right now, it feels a bit too much like a soap opera.

The poem has a lot of interesting side stories, all that involve romance and treachery and war.

I think it would have been fascinating to see these fleshed out, not to mention the main story of Beowulf, Grendel and the Dragon.

Further, I wish it was more historically accurate. It was a fascinating time period that not many know about (in school we're taught about the Romans and then usually it jumps into the famous events of 1066.) It would have been great to see the lives of everyday people, to see how their society worked and to see their mythology and fantasy creatures turned to life and how it impacts on how they behave.

I feel like this was a missed opportunity and that all the focus went on pretty shallow stuff (like everyone looking pretty and clean.)
