Too many black characters
I appreciate that if you don't include one or two black cast members then Lenny Henry and Idris Elbow will start crying, but isn't this show going a little bit overboard?

You can blame feminists and beta males for that. Now Political Correctness dominate our world and theres no end in sight. I guess we will just get used to it.
shareI hear that Grendel will now be a transgender.

I love all the great macho alpha males who clearly never get their way, seeing as how they're always reduced to whining and moaning like the little bitches they are.
Great macho alpha males get dominated by the lowly betas.
It's funny because you're too stupid to realize how stupid you are.
You do realise that your complaint really does smack of racism, right?
How dare they have black characters in a fantasy program full of supernatural creatures set in a mythical land. Is that about it? Dragons and so on are acceptable, but black or Asian people, well that just makes no sense?
If this were a realistic series about a real place, set during an actual historical period without any magical or fantastical elements, your complaint still wouldn't make too much sense, but it would be understandable.
As it is, you plainly just don't like non-whites being on tv and disguise your antipathy as an "opposition to pc".
They ruined what could have been a brilliant show just to please its tv PC masters. Shame.
shareDo you also cry about films of Ancient Egyptians that stars White cast members? Whites complain about people of color portraying alleged White roles, but are silent when the film and television industries White Wash roles (a far more frequent offense).
I'm Egyptian and it's ridiculous that shows involving my ancestors are depicted by Whites. Black Americans and Brits have more rights to play these roles than White people; they have greater resemblance as my ancestors ranged from Brown to Black. Remember Egypt and Sudan were a single nation until the modern era.
The same people who destroyed our civilization and religion are now stealing our history and culture.

In case you didn't know Beowulf is 7th century Sweden. There wouldn't have been an African within a thousand miles let alone many. If it's just straight fantasy fine. Don't call it Beowulf. What is it were a ZULU or Tarzan remake and all the natives were white.
shareThe many varied cultures of sub-Saharan Africa have their own folklore, kingdoms and mythology. It is a shame that no one has yet seen fit to produce films or TV series about and set in one of these places. I would not expect or want to see "white" characters added to such an effort just to try to attract a white viewership. I cringe when I view Hollywood efforts from the beginning up to the present when they use Anglo/Caucasian actors to portray Native Americans, Hispanics, and especially Asian characters. It is jarring, painful and insulting. By the same token, it is also ridiculous to throw in what once were referred to as "token Blacks" in English or Norse mythology simply to be "politically correct" or to grab a larger viewership. It is also inherently racist to assume that Black audiences don't want to see an all-white film, just as it would be to assume that "white folk" wouldn't want to see a film in which there was no white person.
