My thoughts on this movie...
1) I thought the general idea of an artificially created human being was interesting. So for that alone, I give the movie some props.
2) The performance by Anya Taylor Joy was actually quite impressive, considering the overall limited potential of the film. Her performance is what kept my attention, and what made me want to watch the rest of the movie.
3) I think one of the biggest downfalls in this film was due to the fact of how rushed everything felt. The story went by way too quickly. It was almost as if the director just couldn't wait to get to the end. If the story would've been a tad bit more extended, with a little bit more depth and background of the characters, it would've been an improvement.
4) The film should've focused more on Morgan. I mean, obviously, her character was the most important part of the story. She seemed to get a limited amount of screen time. And that alone took a lot of potential away from the film.
5) How exactly did the staff who supervised Morgan expect her to evolve? I mean, what did Morgan do all day? I know she listened to music. But did she watch television? Did she have internet access? Did she have any hobbies or interests? Keeping Morgan locked down in a depressing room all day just seemed contradictory to what the staff was trying to accomplish. Morgan basically became like a caged animal. Artificially created or not, any human being would go crazy if they were locked in a room all day. It just seemed like Morgan was restricted from information of the outside world. With that being said, how exactly did the staff expect her personality to develop into anything positive?
6) What was up with that gray hoodie that Morgan wore all the time? lol
7) The isolation that Morgan was forced to endure, along with the staff's final decision to terminate her, kind of made me feel bad for her character, and pretty much justified all of the violent things she eventually ended up doing at the end. I mean, who were the heroes in this movie? Because I definitely didn't have any sympathy for the staff, or Lee's character for that matter.
8) I did think there were a few scenes that were actually pretty violent. The violence in this film is what surprised me.
9) Did anyone else notice that Morgan suddenly seemed like she was an expert at fighting? Her fighting skills were almost bordering on martial arts...lol. Even though she was obviously not your average human being, I just thought her intense fighting skills kinda popped out of nowhere. I mean, how exactly did she learn to fight?
10) There were multiple moments in the film when Morgan could've had full access to a firearm, but for whatever reason she didn't use it to her full advantage. I just found that kind of confusing. I mean, if Morgan was so dedicated to escape the facility and to eliminate everyone in her path, getting her hands on a gun seemed like the most logical thing to do. She seemed more interested in just physically hurting people with her awesome fighting abilities. lol
11) The ending was so 'anti-climatic'. Probably one of the most disappointing endings ever. She gets drowned to death? Really?! I don't know why, but I just found the ending to be super lame. It would've been better if Lee and Morgan had a final showdown with like a really epic fight scene or something. Morgan died way too easily.
