Does this movie work as a stand alone or should I watch the original Ghostbusters movies before this?

Will I still enjoy this movie if I have not seen the original Ghostbusters movies? Is this Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie more of a reboot than a sequel?

It's a bit of both. You don't have to have seen the original, but you may miss some of the jokes. Plot wise you'll be okay.

Okay I'm going to watch the original Ghostbusters movies before this movie....because I don't want to miss any of the jokes!

Reboot for kids. Doesn't feel like a sequel though it references the original.

The movie relies a lot on nostalgia, I can't imagine someone new to Ghosbusters fully enjoying this.
