This movie reminded me of Radio Days

Anyone else thought of Radio Days while watching this movie?

In both movies we have the middle class Jewish family in their home setting, in contrast with the scenes of the rich and famous in night clubs, parties, etc.

Both movies are narrated by Woody himself.

And something that is really striking: Cafe Society and Radio Days end with a countdown and a new years celebration.

Did you enjoy the movie?

Overall I enjoyed it, although it certainly wasn't Woody's best. I liked most of the family scenes, but Carell didn't really work for me. Eisenberg was ok but somehow made me miss young Woody doing the lead role. Stewart was fine and looked swell.

Did you like it?

It seemed like it wanted to be like Radio Days, a loving homage to an earlier time, but it fell far short of that film, which was an absolute marvel. This was alright, but Radio Days is a masterpiece.

As soon as the film started at the party, I was reminded of Radio Days. Maybe it was the narration that made it feel like it too.
