shareYou can probably find a Woody Allen character in most Woody Allen movies, even when he's not in the movie. He just writes neurotic characters.
shareYou are absolutely right that Eisenberg was channeling Woody Allen - I fully expected that before even seeing the movie. Owen Wilson blatantly did the same thing in Midnight in Paris - it's a recurring thing in Woody Allen movies.
shareEisenberg's character went through a metamorphosis in the movie, so this would only apply to the first part of the movie in which he played the naive, fumbling nephew.
He later grows into the role of a glad-handing impressario confidant enough to overwhelm a gorgeous woman upon first meeting her at his nightclub. He later marries her. That part of the role has nothing to do with the Woody Allen persona.
