Jesse Eisenberg as "Bobby"

Wow! Does JE ever channel Woody Allen in this role. I watched and could see Woody Allen in this part 40 years ago with Diane Keaton as Vonnie and Shelley Hack as Veronica.

Woody Allen just cannot get over his infatuation with young women and almost every film he writes has a female part onto whom he places all his romantic fantasies.

I could sense that he was in love with Kristen Stewart during this filming. He made her "glow." He always has a "type" that he uses as his female protagonist. His new muse is Juno Temple. He is so predictable.

Cafe Society has no plot or depth. It is about infatuation and transferred emotions and feelings. And to me, it was one of Woody Allen's most amateurish films. The stuck in brother sub plot was silly.

The sets were gorgeous but that credit goes to Santo Loquasto.

I was thinking the same thing, how much Eisenberg sounded like Allen. Then I read a review by IMDB member abouhelier-r http://www.imdb.com/user/ur30136144/ who said it was a voice over. Not sure if she meant just the narration parts because other reviewers mentioned it as well.

I agree with the rest of your post.

Books and movies are usually better than real life.

The narrator of the film is Woody Allen. I was referring to the way Jesse Eisenberg played the part of "Bobby." Jesse acted like he was imitating Woody Allen in Annie Hall.

He's actually like young Woody just not as awkwardly charming or as funny. But the rambling and maneurisms are spot on.

Pretty damn accurate
