Please tell me truthfully...

That this is better than "To Rome With Love".

Sure, the scenery was magnificent, if a little too polished, but the story and the acting were dreadful. Perhaps the worst feature for me was Eisenberg, whose character was completely gormless.

I'd like to see "Café Society" but I have been rather underwhelmed by Allen's recent efforts. I think he needs to find better stars. Steve Carrell is a plus. Are there others?

I have not sen To Rome yet, but I really want to. I LOVED Midnight In Paris and I actually think Society is a better movie. Both good movies IMO.

I am not even a fan of Eisenberg(BvS God help me) but he's good in this, I have to admit he is a good actor. That being said, you should definitely rent this.

I was able to connect with this movie and the characters so that probably helped me like it a lot.

I liked "Midnight in Paris" too but it seemed to lack something. Not sure what it was.

Renting is probably good advice in my case.

Well for what it's worth I do think I liked Cafe Society better than Midnight in Paris.

I think you should see Cafe Society, there are far worse movies. I need to see his Rome film.

if you see Cafe Society please write back here and let us know what you thought!

Yeah, okay.

"To Rome With Love" was a stinker for me.

But I like the premise of "Café Society"...up to a point.

It's much better than "To Rome With Love" and certainly "Irrational Man." It's not as good as "Blue Jasmine" or films from Woody's Golden era of the '70s through '90s. But any Woody Allen film is worth watching in my book, and this is more worth watching than many of his recent films.

Miles better than FRWL and MIP.
