Wouldn't it have been better if...

the youngest kid (Christopher) that the babysitter was trying to kidnap was actually her kid who had somehow been abducted years earlier by the "good" mom and dad? Of course, this would mean that the flashback during the storytime where it explains Emelie's baby died would had to have been cut out.

It was an ok movie, but I just think it would have been better with a twist of that sort thrown in.

that sounds pretty interesting

Actually, it would have been good if maybe her baby had been taken off her from child protective services since she seemed a bit poor (?) sleeping on the couch as her bed with the baby.

Then the parents adopted him.

After years she's finally tracked him down, and she wants him back, and wants to make the family who adopted him "pay" for it while also getting her son back.
