What a nice surprise! Excellent!

Fantastic little horror diddy. Also, contains one of the best electronic scores I've heard in a good while. Just superb all around. I'll be watching for this director's filmography in the future.

First hour or so was pretty great and nicely disturbing viewing, but I didn't like the last 20 minutes. Film just fell apart with by-the-book thriller cliches, all psychological edge whimpered away and the finale just wasn't what film as good as this really deserves. With a better ending I'd give this a strong 8, but now it's 6/10.

reply

Yeah good first half, as soon as she slaughtered maggie it fell apart, not sure if they lost the script or something

reply

agree. for me it dropped from 8 to 3 though.

reply

It was decent, but the ending really screwed the film over imo. Nice build up with no real payoff. Sarah Bolger is a great actress, though.

"Martyr me for Cordis Die."

The second half was just mediocre. I kind of regret continuing to watch after the hamster scene.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and film is subjective to the viewer and I respect that, but I have to ask. You believe that the plot in this film made sense in some way?

While it started off quite well with mystery and an edge of your seat atmosphere, the whole, what kind of game is she playing sorta thing. It fell to pieces when the facts were revealed. Imo the actions and motivations between Emilie and "man in car" were far beyond comprehension considering their end game plan.

reply

Agreed, horrid little film! Had some plot issues but they didn't bother me so much.

reply

Each to their own but I thought it was pretty bad and will not be watching for this director's filmography.

Maybe you haven't watched great thriller movies (most of them are not english movies). Watch sleep tight, the uninvited guest, memories of murder etc. A long list of great foreign thriller movies await you. This movie was not even mediocre, it was bad, uninspired writing.

It may also be a surprise to learn that you have terrible taste.

The OP obviously works for the movie

He must do. This was absolutely atrocious. A weak script and hilarious back story, its boring, predictable and as scary as a new born puppy. Sarah Bolger, i am afraid for your film career.

reply

I liked it, and no, I don't work for the movie :D
Why is it so hard to believe and accept that people just are different, and so are their tastes?
Comparing to all the other horror films I have seen lately (The Boy, Hush, Darling, Intruders, Southbound, The Witch, The Invitation) this was the first after a long time that got under my skin and made me feel very uncomfortable and on the edge. Sure, it had a lot of weaknesses, but at the end of the day all that matters is that disturbing feeling, and I rarely can find it in modern horror/thrillers.

(Sorry for my English, not my native tongue)

if you liked this score, you should watch "High Tension" which is a far greater film and the score is of the same vein, but also much better.
