My Favorite Comedy of the Year! (REVIEW)

This movie is absolutely hysterical! From the opening shot, this film had me laughing hard consistently throughout the entire movie. I think there were only two dry spells, and they only lasted a couple minutes. Why Him? is absolutely relentless with its comedy. It hits you over and over and over again. I'm definitely going to see it again, because I know for sure there were jokes I missed from the audience I was with was laughing so hard from the last joke. Be warned-- it does take full advantage of its R rating. It's very much in line with the Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg kind of films, in terms of its type of humor. If that's not your thing, then you probably won't find this movie nearly as funny as I did. But for a person who really loves Rogen's movies and his sense of humor, I found this film to be a blast. The direction by John Hamburg is also great. I don't think this movie is nearly as good of a movie as Hamburg's I Love You, Man, but it has more consistent laughs than that movie. It's really well done and well executed, considering how easily this could've been another throwaway garbage comedy...

I actually thought it was pretty slow and not nearly as funny as I expected. The audience I saw it worth was almost dead silent throughout. Prettt disappointing if you ask me. But to each his own.

I usually can appreciate and respect anyone's opinion, and I'm normally happy when someone enjoys a movie so much that I didn't (makes me think I missed something or need to watch it in a different mood). I saw this last night with a theater of about 30 other people, and besides a few dry chuckles, you could've heard a pin drop. I'm not sure if the audience that you viewed this movie with were fed heavy amounts of alcohol before the show or what, but I definitely wasn't feeling it. Apparently you have many others who agree with your sentiments though; the Cinemascore is B+. I gave it a C-.

I'm not sure exactly what to tell you, but my theater was packed (pretty much no seats left) and everyone was laughing hysterically throughout

Same here. I can't believe I let myself waste my time and money watching this sophomoric sh**.

Didn't pay much attention to the adverts because, to me, it was just another Hollywood cookie cutter film - parents meet their cherished child's significant other resulting in "hilarity" aplenty....She (the date),and the write up in the local newspaper, convinced me it would be different and is supposed to be very funny. I'm convinced she just wanted to see the actor who played Laird and the critic who reviewed it in the newspaper is an idiot.

Not really a fan of Cranston and "Breaking Bad", really do not understand all the hype over BB. And the News critic rambled on about the great comedic timing/improvisation between Cranston and Mulally....maybe I missed something along the way.

It's a 7+ no doubt, Mr. C has a very strong play, J.F. is in line but, kinda misses the spot somehow, the Guzman is like the sunshine, all good in all, but, why all the profanities?? It is abnormal to have more than 200 lines with strong language, most of it uncalled for... Maybe a way of hiding the lack of real humor? Also, the plot is a bit old, as any zillionaire in he's 30's can get any nice girl from around the w. Hm with that...
Cut down porn talk and you'll get higher grades, guys!

While it was predictable as hell, it actually gave me several laughs. That's a win in my book. Most comedies don't do that nowadays. Around 5,5/10 - 6/10.
