Cranston post-Breaking Bad, why is it not working out for him?

This movie is the straw that breaks the camel's back...I had high hopes for Cranston's career taking off after Walther White, but it hasn't. I don't know why. He must have had better offers than...this?

It's probably his agent's fault.

reply

Well, he's got an oscar nomination...

reply

Except an Oscar nomination.

reply

What does that have to do with his choice of movies being sub-par?

reply

Subjective.

reply

Not just his agent's fault, it is his fault as well. The guy probably couldn't careless and is looking for an easy paycheck.

Troll

This.

Cranston had an Oscar nomination for Trumbo. He also was critically acclaimed for his role in The Infiltrator and carried that film.

He's playing Zordon in Power Rangers and if that grows into a franchise, he'll have a steady paycheck for the next 3-5 years.

Hardly suffering a post-Breaking Bad slump.

Franco's career is way more downhill.

reply

Franco is an impostor, no need to even mention his name.

But referring Power Rangers sort of acts as proof that Cranston is underused. I mean if he had a real breakthrough after Breaking Bad, his paycheck would come and he would be in movies people actually remember.

Trumbo - Infiltrator - etc. aren't exactly hits, not even Indie hits...

He's fine. This is an absolutely terrible film. Difficult to make worse. But it happens to the best of them. De Niro, Hanks, Spacey have all made terrible films. He will survive.

reply

I feel like he definitely deserves to take it easy after Breaking Bad and Malcom in the Middle lol

Up until Breaking Bad Cranston spent the majority of his career as a tv supporting character or guest star. Right now he's just taking advantage of the fact that he can star in some pretty well advertised movies. Despite Why Him? quality it was given a prime release during the holiday season. As a 60 year old actor who hasn't gotten many opportunities like that I'm sure he jumped at the chance to do this movie. Honestly I can't blame him. If I were in his position I would do the same thing.

With that being said though, if he doesn't chose better movies to do in the future his movie career will probably be short lived.
