NBC has renewed Superstore for Season 6, which will kick off with its landmark 100th episode.
Fourteen episodes into Season 5, Superstore is averaging over a 0.7 demo rating along with 2.8 million total viewers, easily ranking No. 1 among all NBC comedies in both measures. With Live+7 DVR playback factored in, those numbers swell to 1.1 and 3.8 million.
America Ferrera has decided to leave. it will be interesting to see what they do. the show should be able to survive as it is more of an ensemble than star driven.
Already she doesn't have to look like the actual employees of this Superstore, (management blazer, more professional), which shows me how little empathy it has for the real people who inhabit these jobs. It's almost too realistic with the overweight, clueless, frumpy characters. They aren't attractive but ... This Is Us.
Yeah, I know. I had a job overseeing a couple people who are considered having a disability, working at Wally's.
In principal I hate Wally but if you have to be there and realize it's a nexus of lower class American life, I have to care about these people, to some extent.
This show Superstore makes me fell uncomfortable because it's making fun of our hapless underclass who is being used by a corporation, but I want them to get some comfort for having worked hard. I don't think that's how it works, sadly.
I don't think that's accurate. Regardless of the Wally policies, I think most of the people who work there are trying to do a good job. Shelves get stocked, people answer customer assistance calls, they do the best they can considering the conditions they are working under.
Because they try to work hard? You say they just stand around, I said they are working hard.
Why don't you get a job there and tell people to work harder? You seem like a motivational person.
