It took me a while to figure out where I'd seen the actress before, and IMDb made this task more difficult because they currently list Cara Buono in the role. My brother recognized her from this week's "Castle," so I looked up that episode cast list and discovered that it is Daisy Betts from "Persons Unknown" and more recently "Last Resort."

I'm assuming that Buono must have been in the unaired production pilot and subsequently recast, or someone who is really bad at recognizing actresses submitted the information to IMDb.

I was wondering if Cara Buono played the part in an unaired pilot or just got put up by mistake as well. I rewatched 3 eps of Person Of Interest yesterday with Cara Buono, then this first ep of The Player followed by 2 season 5 eps of Castle which Buono guested in one of. So I knew very well it wasn't her.

Good job on identifying the right actress, hopefully someone has edited the info accordingly.

Yes, the original pilot starred Cara Buono as Ginny. When they decided to make Ginny not really dead, they reshot her scenes with Daisy Betts.

I submitted a correction on the actress to IMDb after the episode aired, but it can take a while for the changes to go through.

Thanks for the info! I was also confused when I looked this up here and saw the wrong actress listed. In fact, I'm convinced that since Daisy Betts is such an up-and-coming actress, they'd never have hired her for that role if her character actually died. Frankly, her death seemed fishy to me right from the get-go, since it happened completely off-screen.

Anyway, nice to see her again. She is definitely easy on the eyes, and has some fairly solid acting chops, too.

I was quite disappointed when it appeared as though ginny wouldn't actually be dead. killing her off was a bright spot for me as I thought she had zero chemistry with alex.

I'm so far past TV writers' attempts at over-arching mysteries that the end with cassy's telegraphed smug / worried face was a let-down after an already fairly disappointing outing.
